Doctor Biography

Dr Jasmin Ahmad MBBS,DO, FCPS (OPHTHALMOLOGY) working as Professor, Institute of Community Ophthalmology (ICO) and Consultant Medical Retina & Uvea Clinic, Bangladesh Eye Hospital Chittagong.

As Professor and teaching faculty of Institute of Community Ophthalmology (ICO) she is involved with delivering regular lecture , provide training the teaching to the Post graduate students of Diploma, MS, FCPS course of Ophthalmology. She is also engaged with the examination system of BCPS &BSMMU.

For the first time in the country, she started working as clinical lead of a digital screening program of Diabetic Retinopathy and tele-ophthalmology (DRETT) project (from 2010 to 2019) after her training at LVPEI in Hyadrabad 2008 and Singapore national Eye Centre 2010.

She was awarded with most prestigious “MA Matin gold medal” by Ophthalmic Society of Bangladesh in 2016.

She achieved MBBS in 1992; DO Dhaka university in 1998 and FCPS Ophthalmology in July 2001.

She is involved with research work and has more than 30 publications in different international and national journal; notably she has publication in prestigious JAMA Network Open and in Journal of Diabetes Research Reviews & Reports.

She also participated as speaker in different national and international conference-

National Presentation in almost every year :

a. Conference of Ophthalmic society of Bangladesh,
b. Annual conference of Bangladesh uvea society,
c. Annual conference of Bangladesh vitreo retina society.

International Presentation :

a. A poster on – “Von Hippel Lindaus Syndrome with Cancrum Oris’ in 20th APAO conference held on 27 – 31 March, 2005 at Kualalampur ,Malaysia.
b. An original article on “Changes In ACD and IOP After Cataract Surgery With Posterior Chamber Intra ocular Lens Implant” in Inter Collegiate Scientific conference held in BCPS 2002.
c. An original article on “The spectrum of VKH in Bangladesh”in 10th Biennial conferance of SAARC Academy of Ophthalmology held in 2011..
d. An original article on “Ocular Tuberculosis; Bangladesh Experience” in 12th IOIS International Ocular Inflammation Society congress and 27th Spanish Uveitis study group meeting held in 2014 at Valencia,Spain..
e. A case on “Recurrent Choroidal Neovascular Membrane” in an AMAC STEP workshop held on November 2013 at Bangkok Thailand.
f. An original article on’Diabetic Retinopathy screening, our experience” SAARC Academy of Ophthalmology held in Kathmandu, Nepal 2018.
g. On “Newer drug Brolucizumab and our experience” in East meets West 18th December 2022.
